Arrested for DUI in Will, Kane, or Kendall County?
A DUI charge is not a conviction. The right defense changes everything.
★★★★★ "Andy actually investigated my case and negotiated a much better outcome." — T.K.
How Andy Sotiropoulos Fights Your Case
1. I listen first
The consultation is free, and it is with me — not an intake service, not a junior associate. Tell me the whole story: the stop, the tests, every interaction with the officer. The lawyer you talk to on the first call is the lawyer standing next to you at every hearing.
2. I challenge the traffic stop
Police need reasonable suspicion to pull you over. If the stop was illegal, evidence gets suppressed. I review dashcam footage and police reports to find procedural errors.
3. I attack the test results
Breathalyzers require proper calibration and certified operators — errors are common, and I check the maintenance records and training logs. Field sobriety tests are subjective and unreliable, and I challenge the officer's interpretation.
4. I protect your license and your career
You have 90 days to request a hearing to save your driving privileges. I file the petition to rescind and fight at the judicial hearing in the circuit court. I also understand IDFPR, FAA, ARDC, and professional licensing boards — I fight the career consequences, not just the charge.
5. I know your courthouse
I appear regularly at the Will County courthouse in Joliet, the Kane County courthouse in Geneva, and the Kendall County courthouse in Yorkville. I know these courts, the prosecutors, and when to fight hard versus when to negotiate smart. Local court knowledge isn't a talking point — it's what changes outcomes.
Andy Sotiropoulos, DUI Defense Attorney
Andy Sotiropoulos — Fighting for People Like You
In 25+ years of DUI defense, I've handled over 3,000 cases in Illinois courts. Only DUI. Nothing else.
I started as a prosecutor, so I know how the other side builds cases — and where they're weak. I am a State Delegate of the National College for DUI Defense, and I understand the breathalyzer technology, blood testing protocols, and the science prosecutors rely on — and how to attack it.
Every case in Will, Kane, and Kendall County goes to a different courthouse — Joliet, Geneva, or Yorkville — and I know all of them.
When you hire me, you get me. Not a junior associate. Not a paralegal handling your calls. Me — in your courthouse, fighting your case.
DUI Cases I Defend
From a first offense to the most serious DUI charges, in the 12th, 16th, and 23rd Circuits and across Illinois:
-
First DUI
Usually a Class A misdemeanor, but still a charge that can cost your license, your record, and your job. I treat it like it matters, because it does.
-
Fighting the Charge
Illegal stops, bad breath tests, improper field sobriety tests, and procedural errors. I investigate every case for the weakness that wins it.
-
License Suspension
The 90-day window to challenge your suspension, and the MDDP permit that can keep you driving. Deadlines decide these cases — do not miss yours.
-
Breathalyzer Defense
Calibration records, operator certification, and the science behind the number. I know where these tests go wrong.
-
DUI Penalties
What you are actually facing — jail exposure, fines, revocation — and what a real defense can do about it.
-
Professional License Defense
CDL drivers, nurses, teachers, contractors. I work with licensing boards to protect careers, not just handle the criminal charge.
Clients Who Fought Back
Past results do not guarantee future outcomes. Every case is different.
“As a CDL driver, a DUI would have ended my career. Andy fought the charges and worked with the licensing board. I kept my CDL and my job.”
— J.S.
“Other lawyers just wanted me to plead guilty. Andy actually investigated my case, found problems with the traffic stop, and negotiated a much better outcome.”
— T.K.
“I thought my nursing career was over. Andy challenged the breathalyzer calibration and got the evidence thrown out. Charges dismissed. I'm still working today.”
— R.M.
Common Questions About DUI Defense in Will, Kane & Kendall Counties
Can you actually beat a DUI charge?
Yes. DUI cases can be won on procedural errors (illegal stop), equipment problems (breathalyzer calibration), officer mistakes (improper field sobriety tests), or evidentiary issues. Not every case is winnable, but many have weaknesses that can lead to dismissal or reduced charges. That's why you need an attorney who investigates — not one who just pleads you out.
How much does this cost?
Fees depend on the complexity of your case. What I can tell you: the consultation is free. I'll review your case, explain your options, and quote a fee based on what needs to be done. I offer payment plans. More importantly, the cost of a conviction — lost job, higher insurance, permanent record — far exceeds legal fees.
Will I lose my license?
The suspension takes effect automatically on the 46th day after notice — but you have 90 days to petition the circuit court to rescind it, and you may qualify for a Monitoring Device Driving Permit (MDDP) that keeps you driving. Act before day 46 for the best chance to be heard first.
Will I go to jail?
For a first-offense DUI in Illinois, jail is possible but not guaranteed. Factors include your BAC level, whether there was an accident, and your prior record. Most first-time offenders with proper representation avoid jail. Let me review your specific case.
Does it matter which courthouse my case is in?
Yes — significantly. The Will County courthouse in Joliet, the Kane County courthouse in Geneva, and the Kendall County courthouse in Yorkville all have different judges, different prosecutors, and different tendencies. An attorney who appears there regularly knows those differences. I do. That local knowledge is part of how I build your defense.
What should I do right now?
Call me. Don't talk to police without an attorney. Don't post about your case on social media. Don't miss the 90-day deadline for your license hearing. The sooner I can review your case, the more options we have to fight it.
